Contemporary paper folded fan making

Learn how to make 360 degree cockade fans using paper folding techniques. You start with a basic model and then are shown how to adapt it using more complex paper folding, paper cutting and other creative techniques. By the end of this course, you will have learned how to make several types of cockade fans and have the skills and confidence to create your own unique pieces.

Kate Colin

Kate Colin is a paper artist and designer whose range of work is created through intricate hand scoring and folding techniques. She is a QEST scholar, a graduate of the Crafts Council’s Hothouse programme and regularly exhibits and teaches throughout the UK.

Kate has studied in Switzerland and Italy with Paul Jackson and Dario Zeruto. She makes lighting, homewares, installations and artworks and has exhibited at the London Design Fair, the Manchester Craft and Design Centre, and The Lighthouse in Glasgow. She regularly teaches and demonstrates throughout UK in venues including the Barbican, V&A Dundee, and Cockpit Arts. She is a QEST scholar and has been awarded a bursary from the Heritage Craft Association enabling her to study fan making in London and Paris.
