Mixed media - painting and drawing the landscape

This dynamic course will introduce you to a variety of materials including, charcoal, ink, watercolour, pigments, and oils and encompasses how to use, combine, and layer these materials. You will explore working on location in the landscape as well as from moving images onscreen and digital photographs, to create a series of abstracted studies of a landscape.

Ability: Suitable for all
The minimum time required to watch and respond to the video content and complete the tasks is 6 hours. The tutor also recommends how you can develop your work further so that you can continue to use the skills acquired on this course for future projects.

Melanie Rose

Dr Melanie Rose explores landscape and place through painting. Working with traditional materials, sympathetic to the environment, her current focus is the landscape set within the bounds of the South Downs National Park, which forms the heart of my PhD research. 
Melanie is also a Research Assistant for the AHRC funded project 'Tipping Points: Cultural Responses to Wilding and Land-Sharing' and a member of Land2, a national network of artist/researchers with an interest in place-oriented art.
Melanie has exhibited widely and has work in both private and public collections.
